Sza Image to Animation

An animated visual inspired by the cover art for SZA - SOS. Created as an independent personal project - not affiliated with SZA or her team.

I rearranged the scene into a 3d workspace, to create a realistic depth to the image. I used soft blurs, light leaks and film grain to create a dreamlike quality, with the animation kept to a minimum to preserve the calm aspect. The aim was to enhance the emotion of the image rather than reinterpret it. Turbulent displace was used on the hair to create the movement of it blowing in the wind.

Colour grading was done using Magic Bullet Looks to enhance contrast and vibrancy.

To make the water move, i used a video of an ocean and changed the colour to match the original still.
